Hi.  I'm Marcie.

I may have been named after the girl who called everyone "Sir" in the iconic comic strip, Peanuts, but I can relate more to Frieda who constantly reminded us that she had "naturally curly hair". After all, that is how I am most recognized.

In previous chapters I've been a teacher, an actress, and a nanny, but now I spend my days writing children's books!

I enjoy reading, playing my guitar (check out my band, CoverCraft), running, watching baseball (go Yankees!), and eating ice cream--not all at the same time! But I'm not known to turn down a challenge. 

Although I will always be a Brooklynite at heart, I now live with my husband LEGO artist, Jonathan Lopes--and a beloved herd of stuffed animals in San Diego, California.

I often teach for The Writing Barn, The Storyteller Academy, The Storyteller Pod, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and UCSD Extension,  
plus an active member of 12x12, Inked Voices, the Children's Media Association, and Women in Animation.
